    you would do 9 of each coin

  3. There would be nine of each coin.

    Nickles: 9 x 5 = 45

    Dimes: 9 x 10 = 90

    Pennies: 9 x 1 = 9

    45+90+9= 144

    Let x be the number of pennies. Then we also have x nickels and x dimes.

    1x + 5x + 10x = 144
    => 16x = 144
    => x = 144/16 = 9
