Directions: Using the digits 1 to 9 at most one time each, fill in the boxes so that there is no solution to the system of equations.

Hint

What does it mean to have no solution for a system of equations? How can you use that to help you fill in the numbers?  Are there multiple possibilities?  Is there a pattern?

  1. What numbers would go in the boxes you left blank?

  2. You could also set this one up with fractional slopes in slope-intercept form. It lowers the challenge for the problem, but in doing so makes it more accessible.
