Answer

There are 83 unique solutions. Three examples are:
1: 0/2 + 7/8 + 3/4 = 91/56
2: 0/4 + 8/3 + 2/6 = 57/19
3: 0/4 + 9/2 + 3/6 = 85/17

  3. Is there more than one answer to this one? Otherwise its not really open middle…. My class can’t find another one.

Additionally, “open middle” refers to the process in which students might find the answer to an Open Middle Problem, which there are many. Numerous Open Middle problems are closed ended, where they have a quite limited amount of possible answers, or one.
