Dimensions of Rectangles – Area and Perimeter

Directions: Using the digits 1 to 9, at most one time each, place a digit in each box to create dimensions so that rectangle B has a perimeter double & an area quadruple that of rectangle A.

Hint

What do double and quadruple mean? Think about using doubles in your dimensions.

Answer

Rectangle A’s dimensions could be 2 & 3 (perimeter = 10 & area = 6) & Rectangle B’s dimensions could be 4 & 6 (perimeter = 20 & area = 24) OR Rectangle A’s dimensions could be 3 & 4 (perimeter = 14 & area = 12) and Rectangle B’s dimensions could be 6 & 8 (perimeter = 28 & area = 48)
